The \u201cJazz Brunch\u201d event, which has already become a tradition of the Lithuanian Jazz Union and the Lithuanian National Commission for UNESCO, will combine two memorable occasions - the International Jazz Day and the 150th anniversary of the birth of M. K. \u010ciurlionis, which is being celebrated jointly with UNESCO.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The only open and free presentation of the project \u201cFollowing \u010ciurlionis\u201d in Vilnius will take place on 30 April (Wednesday) 11.45-12.45 in the courtyard of the National M. K. \u010ciurlionis School of Arts, by the monument of the most famous Lithuanian artist. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The programme will feature preludes for piano by M. K. \u010ciurlionis, arranged and performed by saxophonist Jan Maksimovi\u010d and pianist Dmitrij Golovanov. This is an interpretation of \u010ciurlionis music by well-known Lithuanian jazz masters, a unique dialogue between classical music and contemporary jazz. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Both jazz musicians are prominent and active participants in cultural life, meritorious and active educators, with an exceptional attitude and commitment to the art of music. This duo, who have developed an almost telepathic relationship, transforms the music of M. K. \u010ciurlionis by translating it into improvisational jazz music forms. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The interpretation of the preludes in \u201cAfter \u010ciurlionis\u201d rejects jazz stereotypes and uses authentic elements of M. K. \u010ciurlionis' music, harmony and musical language. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
In the open school courtyard, the concert audience will be able to enjoy not only jazz music, but also spring, to rise above everyday life for a short while.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
