The Lithuanian National Commission for UNESCO and the Lithuanian Jazz Union invite you to the now-traditional \u201cJazz Brunch,\u201d organized this year in collaboration with the Embassy of the Kingdom of Denmark.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This year\u2019s musical celebration will bring together three special occasions \u2013 International Jazz Day, the 35th anniversary of Lithuania\u2019s accession to UNESCO, and 35 years of Lithuanian-Danish cooperation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cJazz Brunch\u201d will take place on Thursday, April 30, from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. at the Martynas Ma\u017evydas National Library of Lithuania (3rd-floor atrium by the stained-glass window).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The program will feature a Lithuanian-Danish jazz duo \u2013 pianist and vocalist Fini Broadbery (Denmark) and saxophonist Donatas Petreikis (Lithuania).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cJazz Brunch\u201d is part of the \u201cA Year with Denmark\u201d programme of events.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The event is free and open to everyone. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fini Broadbery is known as a jazz pianist, but he began his musical journey as a singer in the Copenhagen Boys\u2019 Choir. In this concert, he will bring these two forms of musical expression together, performing as both a pianist and a vocalist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This talented artist interprets both well-known and lesser-heard songs from *The Great American Songbook*. His performances reveal a deep love for the jazz tradition and its history, yet his music is neither overly reverential nor focused solely on the past. He favours a rich, profound sound, avoids clich\u00e9s, and interprets familiar works through the lens of his own personal experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Donatas Petreikis is a prominent saxophonist of the younger generation of jazz musicians. Since completing his studies, he has successfully pursued an international career. Living between Lithuania and Estonia and maintaining close ties with the Danish jazz scene, he composes and records music with some of Denmark\u2019s leading jazz musicians, including Anders Mogensen and Carl Winther.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This year, Donatas\u2019s album was nominated for the \u201cJazz of the Year\u201d category at the M.A.M.A. Music Awards. In Lithuania, Donatas can be seen performing not only with his own quartet, but also with Estonian pianist Rahel Talts\u2019s group, with whom he has performed in clubs across Europe as well as in Asia.
