On April 30, Lithuania joins the rest of the world in celebrating International Jazz Day \u2013 a UNESCO initiative dedicated to jazz as a language of freedom, creativity, cultural dialogue, and mutual understanding. The Lithuanian Jazz Union is one of the main coordinators and organizers of International Jazz Day initiatives in Lithuania.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
International Jazz Day was proclaimed by UNESCO in 2011. Its aim is not only to highlight the musical and cultural significance of jazz, but also its ability to bring different communities together, foster dialogue and tolerance, encourage creative freedom, and promote international cooperation. Every year on April 30, musicians, concert organizers, cultural institutions, schools, and jazz communities around the world join the initiative.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
At the initiative of the Secretariat of the Lithuanian National Commission for UNESCO and the Lithuanian Jazz Union, Lithuania joined the global International Jazz Day celebrations in 2013. Since then, every year at the end of April, the jazz community has been invited to come together through concerts, educational events, creative initiatives, and other projects dedicated to International Jazz Day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
One of the main highlights of International Jazz Day in Lithuania has become \u201cJazz Brunch\u201d \u2013 an event organized by the Lithuanian Jazz Union and the Lithuanian National Commission for UNESCO, traditionally opening the programme of events dedicated to the occasion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Over the years, \u201cJazz Brunch\u201d has taken place at various cultural venues across Vilnius, bringing together Lithuanian and international jazz musicians from different generations. The event continuously explores new formats and partnerships, creating a space where jazz intersects with other areas of culture, international cooperation, and issues relevant to contemporary society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
For the Lithuanian Jazz Union, International Jazz Day is more than an annual concert. It is an opportunity to bring Lithuania\u2019s jazz community together, increase the visibility of jazz, encourage new initiatives, and present Lithuanian jazz as part of the global cultural community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
