The Lithuanian Jazz Union continues its “Cool Cat Cash” series of music entrepreneurship and career development seminars. The next seminars will take place in Klaipėda on May 4 and in Kaunas on May 18. This time, the sessions will focus on one of the most important tools in a musician’s professional communication – the Electronic Press Kit (EPK).
A strong musical project alone does not guarantee that it will catch the attention of festival programmers, club bookers, or other concert venue professionals. To make sure your music reaches the right people, it is essential to know how to present yourself and your work clearly and professionally. This is exactly what an EPK is designed to do – it is not simply a collection of photos, a biography, and links to music, but a professional calling card for a musician or band.
During the seminar, participants will learn what makes an EPK truly effective and how music industry professionals approach and evaluate it. The session will cover which information is essential and what is better left out, how to write a compelling and professional artist biography, and how to present music, video content, and visuals in a way that helps capture the interest of potential partners.
The seminar will also explore common mistakes that can cause even strong musical projects to go unnoticed, as well as how to tailor an EPK to different markets, festivals, clubs, and other professional contexts.
The seminars will be led by Dorotėja Būdaitė – Chair of the Board of the Lithuanian Jazz Union and manager of JJA Music and Vilnius JJAZZ Ensemble, with experience working with international music scenes, showcase platforms, and music export projects.
