Collaboration is probably the best way for a musician to improve or discover something new.
Doesn’t matter, collaborations with musicians or artists of another art form – the more the better.
Needless to say, most of the artists understand this concept but the key is not to forget its
importance in your daily life. Two friends – Donatas Petreikis and Karolis Šarkus – who happen to
compose, arrange and play music decided to collaborate. These musicians know each other for
many years and spent countless hours on listening to records together, discussions and writing
songs. Most of it would usually end up staying inside the studio but this time it was different. They
have put all of their ideas with music on paper and out of love for jazz Collaborative Jazz Septet
was born. It is the only jazz septet in Lithuania who is playing authentic jazz music from the eras of
bebop and hardbop. Karolis and Donatas recorded all this music and made an album out of that.
Their debut album was digitally released on November 2020 but due to the pandemic they could
only present the CDs live on August 2021. Recently they have released video series called “That
Groove” which will also be available as LP.
