150th anniversary of Čiurlionis

To commemorate the 150th anniversary of the birth of Mikalojus Konstantinas Čiurlionis, the Lithuanian Jazz Union is organising a series of twelve concerts "Following Čiurlionis" in Lithuanian cities. Čiurlionis' music will be interpreted and improvised by the country's leading jazz musicians Jan Maksimovičius (saxophone) and Dmitrijus Golovanovas (piano). These concerts will not only be a journey through the genius' work, but also a celebration of deep emotions and improvisation, presenting a cultural dialogue between classical and contemporary jazz music.

Celebrating the 150th anniversary of M. K. Čiurlionis' birth, his work continues to be a source of inspiration for many artists today. During the "Following Čiurlionis" concerts, jazz masters D. Golovanov and J. Maksimovičius invite the audience to experience not only Čiurlionis' music, but also a new interpretation of it, which they reveal using the language of improvisation and contemporary jazz.

Project is financed by the Lithuanian Council for Culture.
